About Leviathan
Leviathan Studios is built around a simple idea: websites can be beautiful, useful, and commercially smart at the same time. It is led by Jb Toner — sometimes still known as Darren, but Jb is the name he prefers — and the process stays close, collaborative, and hands-on.
Independent studio / Northern IrelandClients work directly with the person making the decisions. That keeps ideas sharper and execution tighter.
The work should feel distinct, but it still needs to sell, guide, reassure, and stay usable in the real world.
Leviathan does not force businesses into a pre-made structure. The website should fit the client, not the other way around.
Good structure now means easier content, support, and CMS work later. The site should age well.
Working style
Jb is a software engineer, creative developer, lecturer, and technical mentor based in Northern Ireland. His work sits where robust engineering, expressive interfaces, and practical design judgement meet.
He is comfortable moving from TypeScript, React, Astro, APIs, data, and cloud infrastructure into interaction design, content structure, WordPress, ecommerce, and the small visual decisions that make a site memorable.
The useful thread through all of it is clarity: take a complicated idea, find the part that matters, explain it in normal language, and turn it into something people enjoy using.
I am not terribly interested in being the main character. The work should do that job. Still, if you want to know who is on the other side of the screen, this is me.

The first job is understanding the business, the audience, and what the website needs to do beyond just looking expensive.
02
Leviathan projects aim for a strong visual identity, clear hierarchy, and a tone that actually belongs to the client.
03
Fast front ends, practical CMS thinking, and a technical setup that is ready for growth rather than held together with shortcuts.
04
Launch is not the disappearing act. Support, refinement, and practical improvements are part of the relationship.
